Therapy for Eating Disorders, Body Image, and Self-Esteem in New Jersey and Rhode Island
Welcome! You are on my website, which means you have taken the first step toward getting help. Getting help can feel hard and even scary sometimes. You may be apprehensive. You may have had bad experiences with therapy in the past, or you may be struggling to find the right fit. Or this may be your first time in therapy, and you might be nervous because you have no idea what to expect! I will walk you through every step of the process and will demistify some of the misconceptions about therapy.

How Therapy Works
Schedule a complimentary 15 minute consult
The therapeutic relationship has to be a fit in order for therapy to work. This way, you can get a snapshot of my style and my personality to see if we’re a match.
2. Schedule an intake
During the intake, I will ask you a whole series of questions about your background, your history, and what you might be struggling with. This is also the time when I can get to know you better, meaning we’ll also talk about your hobbies, interests, and what you hope will be different for you after starting therapy.
Therapy doesn’t have to be forever. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. If you feel you have met your goals and no longer need therapy, we can discuss the level of appropriateness for discharge. However, if you would like to continue with long-term therapy, that’s something we can discuss. Regardless of whether you see me for 2 months or 2 years, my hope is that you leave each session feeling empowered and confident, and that you end therapy feeling ready to tackle life.
3. Book a follow up session
If you feel we’re a match, we’ll schedule a follow up session, where we’ll process what happened between the previous session and today, and we’ll pick an area of focus to target in therapy. This may include worksheets or talk therapy, depending on what would be most beneficial. You’ll walk away from each sessions with practical coping skills that you can use in day-to-day life. We’ll also assess your progress in each session, and we can decrease the frequency of sessions as progress continues.
4. Continue to do the work
Continuing to attend therapy sessions can increase the benefits, as does practicing your skills between sessions. Therapy works if you work it. If you want to see a change, you have to take the necessary steps to get there. They can be baby steps! Something is better than nothing! We’ll create realistic, attainable goals that meet you where you are and support you toward the path to recovery.
