Body image therapy in New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island

Your value isn’t defined by your apperance- it’s in who you are and how you show up

You find yourself avoiding mirrors because looking at your reflection only brings up anxiety and self-criticism. On the rare occasions you do look, you notice every little flaw and pick yourself apart. Deep down, you wish your body looked the way you think it should instead of the way it does. You tell yourself that once you’re thinner, you’ll finally feel at peace- but every time you reach that goal, the bar shifts again, leaving you exhausted, discouraged, and hopeless. You want so badly to feel comfortable in your own skin and learn to love your body, but right now it feels out of reach.

You might catch yourself fixating on your appearance almost constantly, body checking throughout the day and worrying about whether something has changed- or if you look the same. The way you see your body has such a strong impact on your self-esteem that it leaves you feeling even more uncomfortable in your own skin. When you’re getting ready to go out, you try on outfit after outfit, only to feel frustrated with how nothing seems right. It’s not just about the clothes- it’s about how uneasy you feel in your body. Deep down, you just want to feel at home in yourself, to love your body, and to finally feel comfortable in your own skin.

Self-love and body acceptance are possible with the right support

You might benefit from body image therapy if:

  • You keep telling yourself that once you’re thinner, life will finally feel easier

  • You avoid mirrors because seeing your reflection only brings up anxiety

  • You change your outfit over and over again before leaving the house, hoping something will finally feel “right”

  • You catch yourself body checking constantly, looking for any sign that something has changed

  • When you do look in the mirror, your focus goes straight to the parts of yourself you don’t like

  • You struggle to feel love or acceptance for yourself in the body you’re in right now

  • Your mind runs through every possible “what if” on repeat, leaving you drained and overwhelmed

  • You feel like no matter what you do, you’ll never measure up unless you have the “perfect” body

As a body image therapist, my goal is to help you create a healthier, more positive relationship with your body. You are worth so much more than how you look. Together, we’ll work on shifting your focus toward what actually feels good for you- rather than feeding the negative self-talk that keeps you stuck. Self-love and acceptance aren’t just buzzwords- they can be your reality. I’m here to walk alongside you as you get there.

What are the benefits of body image therapy in New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island?

You are worth so much more than your appearance, and I want to help you see that. Body Image Therapy is a space where we can quiet the negative self-talk and uncover where it all began. Together, we’ll explore questions like: When did these feelings start? What makes it so hard to feel confident in your own skin? What stories have you been carrying about your body? As we work through these questions, I’ll guide you in learning skills, coping strategies, and techniques that support healing. Over time, you’ll build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with yourself- one that isn’t dictated by the mirror but by your true worth.

OTHER BENEFITS OF BODY IMAGE THERAPY INCLUDE:

  • Learn how to acknowledge and accept the parts of yourself you struggle with

  • Redefine what beauty really means to you

  • Strengthen your self-esteem and sense of self-worth

  • Practice body acceptance in a way that feels realistic and compassionate

  • Spend more time doing the things that truly matter to you

  • Build a healthier relationship with food, movement, and yourself

  • Use CBT strategies to challenge unhelpful thoughts and rewrite old core beliefs

As a body image therapist, I’m here to help you shift from self-criticism to self-acceptance

I want to support you on your journey toward self-love and acceptance. As an eating disorder and body image therapist, I’ve worked with so many people who believed their worth was tied to their appearance. Before starting therapy, they often shared how trying on clothes or looking in the mirror filled them with anxiety. They felt like they weren’t enough, like no matter what they did, their body didn’t measure up. That critical inner voice kept telling them they’d never be good enough- and it left them feeling stuck and defeated

Through body image therapy, many of my clients have learned how to confront their inner critic and reframe their negative thoughts that once felt so overwhelming. They’ve been able to broaden their perspective and see their worth as so much more than their appearance. Together, we’ve explored how body image struggles can impact self-esteem and overall quality of life- and slowly, they’ve begun making peace with their bodies. For the first time, they’ve started to accept themselves for who they truly are.

I know making these changes takes time and effort, and I want you to know you don’t have to do it alone. There may be moments of discomfort, deep conversations, and deep reflection- but I’ll be right there with you through it all. The work isn’t easy, but you are more than capable of it. My role is to give you the tools, support, and guidance you need to move closer to the self-acceptance and self-love you truly deserve.

I’LL HELP YOU SEE BEYOND THE DISTORTED THOUGHTS THAT KEEP YOU STUCK

My approach to body image therapy

When I approach body image therapy, my goal is to help you build self-acceptance, self-compassion, and a more caring relationship with your body. I want to support you in seeing your worth beyond how you look, and in choosing what feels good for you rather than what you think you “should” do. My approach is closely aligned with Health At Every Size (HAES), with an emphasis on self-compassion, understanding, and creating space for you to feel more comfortable in your own skin.

TOGETHER, WE’LL WORK ON CREATING A HEALTHIER, MORE POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR BODY

Supporting people in building a more positive relationship with themselves allows them to step into self-love and acceptance. I focus on helping clients work through cognitive distortions and limiting beliefs so they can see themselves more clearly. At the heart of this work is the reminder that your worth has nothing to do with the reflection in the mirror.

I help people reframe the unhelpful thoughts and limiting beliefs that keep them stuck. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we work on replacing negative self-talk with thoughts that are more accurate, helpful, and compassionate. I also integrate approaches like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support deeper self-acceptance and self-compassion. Through this work, my clients begin to accept themselves for who they are- while still moving toward their goals without relying on an unrealistic image.
